Equipping Laborers to Bring in the Harvest

Equipping Laborers to Bring in the Harvest
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Modern Protestant missions began in 1793 when William Carey sailed to Bengal, India. Although Catholic missionaries had entered Asia centuries earlier, the Protestant missionary movement expanded rapidly following the Great Awakenings in Europe and America. The Gospel spread throughout Asia, Africa, South America, and the Pacific Islands, and in just over two centuries, tens of millions have come to Christ.

William Carey and his coworkers devoted forty years to Bible translation,
helping bring God's Word into forty Indian languages and dialects.
William Carey is widely known as the “Father of Modern Missions,” whose vision helped ignite the global missionary movement.
The Apostle Paul declared, “The gospel is the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16). Through missionaries and the local workers they have trained, countless people who might never have heard the Gospel have entered God's Kingdom. For every believer, participating in the Great Commission and helping bring the lost to Christ remains a vital calling.
In 1792, Carey published his famous work, An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens, helping launch the modern missionary movement. Later, Hudson Taylor founded the China Inland Mission in 1865. By 1934, 1,368 CIM missionaries were serving throughout China. Many paid a tremendous price for the Gospel. During the Boxer Rebellion of 1900, approximately 800 missionaries and family members were martyred, including 58 CIM missionaries and 21 of their children.

On May 26, 1866, Hudson Taylor and the China Inland Mission missionary team set sail for China aboard the Lammermuir, opening an important new chapter in modern Chinese missions.
Hudson Taylor founded the China Inland Mission and inspired generations of missionaries to carry the Gospel into the heart of China.
Hudson Taylor famously said, “The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” Today, China is home to tens of millions of Protestant Christians, and many more are found among Chinese communities throughout the world.
In 1807, Robert Morrison arrived in China as the first Protestant missionary to the nation. Over the past two centuries, Protestant churches have spread the Gospel through the message of Christ's redeeming sacrifice, repentance from sin, and a personal relationship with God through faith and prayer. In many parts of Asia, Africa, and South America, churches have also emphasized the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the full Gospel message.

East and West working together—an international partnership in the history of Chinese Bible translation.
Robert Morrison and William Milne completed the first full Protestant translation of the Bible in Chinese, laying an important foundation for Chinese Christian ministry.
Early missionaries learned local languages, translated the Scriptures, distributed Bibles, preached publicly, and planted churches. Today, many nations have well-established local churches, and modern missionaries increasingly focus on providing resources, teaching God's Word, and training leaders.
What RCMI Is Doing Today

The current ministry focus of Revival Chinese Ministries International.
Through online platforms, believers and church leaders are being equipped, allowing God's Word to cross geographical boundaries.
Today, China has become one of the world's major Bible-printing centers, making it unnecessary to import large quantities of Bibles from overseas. Through your generous support, we help local church leaders purchase Bibles to meet the needs of their congregations.
We also actively partner with churches in China and many other nations to teach God's Word and train church leaders. While some training takes place through physical Bible schools, much of the work now takes place online.
I personally teach believers across China each week through Zoom, focusing on biblical truth and leadership development.

Pastor Dennis Balcombe regularly teaches Bible courses, helping believers grow deeper in God's Word and become effective servants of Christ.
Because of your faithful prayers and support, we provide thousands of Bibles every month to regions where Scriptures are difficult to obtain or too expensive for many believers. These areas include India, Pakistan, many Asian nations, Africa, the Middle East, and parts of South America.

Equipping local church leaders.
Training local church leaders is essential for building healthy churches and expanding the reach of the Gospel.
In Pakistan, we help provide large numbers of Urdu Bibles through overseas supporters. In India, we work with the Bible Society of India to supply Scriptures in the many languages and dialects needed by local churches.

A well-worn Bible bears witness to the deep and enduring love Chinese believers have for God's Word.
Through the prayers and generosity of God's people, thousands of Bibles are reaching believers in need.
Behind all these efforts is our ongoing partnership with local pastors who are evangelizing the lost and strengthening believers through the teaching of Scripture.
A Changing Mission Field
Since William Carey began his ministry in India more than two centuries ago, the global missionary landscape has been transformed. Through the faithful service of generations of missionaries and local believers, many nations that once had little or no Christian witness are now home to millions of followers of Christ.
For the past 57 years, I have been privileged to serve the Lord in the great harvest fields of Hong Kong and China. Yet the words of Jesus in John 4:35 continue to inspire and challenge me.

"Calling believers to unite in carrying out the Great Commission."
Vast Gospel harvest fields still await around the world. Let us join together in fulfilling Christ's Great Commission.
“Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.”
As we await our Lord's return, I warmly invite you to join us in bringing in this great final harvest.
May God richly bless you.
