Good News of Great Joy

Dear Friends of RCMI,

"The angel said to them, 'Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord'" (Luke 2:10-11). Today, RCMI, together with Kaohsiung Revival Christian Church and Pastor Scott Hung of Carpenter's House, brings you good news of great joy:

Pastor Scott Hung’ family, daughter, Suzanne Hung

"We love, because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19).

Thank the Lord for His grace! Because of Christ's love and the evangelistic atmosphere of HK Revival Christian Church, my wife and I came and started Carpenter's House in Kaohsiung twenty years ago, expecting to work with the Holy Spirit to start a place where God's love could be seen and felt by the world ... where people would receive the benefits of the gospel ... where they would receive new life!

We chose the Chinese name "匠愛", which can be translated "Carpenter's Love" because it sounds the same as the Chinese for "obstacle" or "impediment." Many of us in society have physical, psychological, or spiritual handicaps or obstacles; but Jesus is the Carpenter who loves us all and shapes us that's why we named our place Carpenter's House.

Our coworkers live twenty-four hours a day with the residents of Carpenter's House. Our family is made up of single elderly people, those who have suffered from stroke or schizophrenia, homeless, incapacitated, even former drug addicts and alcoholics, people on the fringes of society. Every day we all have a meeting together and sing songs; we live and work together. Even though we aren't related by blood, we treat one another just like family and take care of one another.

Carpenter's House provides clothing, food, lodging, travel, entertainment, and medical services. We also help our children get into schools, our grown-ups get jobs, and our elderly get medical treatment. We want to give them a safe, complete path to live out their entire lives; and at the same time we have faith they will one day be spiritually renewed by the great power of the Gospel and become new creatures in Christ. Once again they will be able to dream, to spread their wings and take off in their new life in Christ!

We thank God that He let us grow up and learn to work together in this big family of Revival Church. Our prayer is that more "crack troops" will receive His grace to be able to fight in this spiritual war of preaching the Gospel!
