Summer Camp 2015
We thank God for providing us a quiet and scenic campsite in suburban Kunming for ethnic students who came under our education aid program. The students did not have their summer breaks all at the same time and some stayed in far-away places. Thus, it wasn’t easy for them and the camp organizers to come together to a summer camp. However, since summer break was the only time for the yearly get-together, all students yearned for a chance to participate. To come to the camp, many students had to take a night train and continued their journey by other mode of transport. Some had to cross provincial borders. It was indeed a great blessing to have made it to the camp.
God had richly blessed participants both physically and spiritually during the few days at camp. The main speaker was a Philippine missionary who talked about her life and calling. She came from a remote part of the Philippines and found Jesus during a visit by an outside mission team to her village. The visit resulted in three believers being subsequently trained to become missionaries. She was one of them who was later sent to China. We are grateful for the testimony of this sister whose life is so vibrant. She is a powerful encouragement to our students. It is our hope that God will use these students to spread the gospel within their ethnic communities. We wish her testimony has convinced them that wherever they are and however they regard themselves, God can use them as long as they are obedient and willing.
Apart from the sharing by the Philippine missionary, the campers were also blessed by a local group which had come to minister and conduct camp games and small group discussion. This local group comprised of ethnic students from the interior who came to the towns for higher education and later were involved in Christian ministries. The group's presence caused me to look at our students with higher expectation and as precious gifts from God.
O Lord, we pray that you greatly bless these ethic students; lead them along the path of righteousness and cause your will be fulfilled in their lives. Amen.
Once again, we thank God for the beautiful place where we could fellowship with the students; for the wonderful testimonies shared at the camp and for the abundant provision toward education fees of the students. Amen.
