Thank you for supporting the Ethnic Students!

It has been three years since the launch of Education Aid for Ethnic Students. Our hearts are full of gratitude for what we were able to see and feel in this ministry of which others could not experience.

I believe you would be as surprised as I am when you enter an ethnic dwelling. It is amazing how a very poor home, that prepares its meals in a primitive way, could produce an outstanding undergraduate. The simplicity of the ethnic students moves the hearts of us urbanites. Most students have no problem engaging in friendly and open chats with us. However, when the subject turns to family, their eyes redden and their tone is shaken into silence. This is because many of them feel they have been the cause of an unbearable burden to their family. It is difficult to describe how they feel unless we are in their shoes.

After giving out the study aid, I visited one of the recipients. She is a second year undergraduate who does not talk much though she always smiles when we meet. Actually she is not the jovial type, but she smiles a lot to cover her sense of inferiority and uneasiness. When I met her this time, she hugged me with subdued sobs. Though she did not say it, I felt her deep sense of gratitude. I should not be the one receiving it, for I was only representing the body of Christ who has blessed this ministry that blesses the ethnic students. Thank you for your selfless giving to students of the ethnic minorities! Every one of them expresses their thanksgiving to God because of your support. Among them are some grateful believers who pledge to serve through the church in order to bless the needy with the love of God.

Because of your support, this ministry is presently giving study aid to 50 students from 9 ethnic minorities (Yi, Lisu, Miao, Bai, Sani, Nu, Lahu, Zhuang and Mosuo). May the good seeds sown among them cause growth and revival in their ethnic groups!
