Holy Spirit Revival and Harvest in China
Jiang Qing, the despised wife of Chairman Mao and the head of the ‘Gang of Four’ clique responsible for the Cultural Revolution that caused up to 10 million deaths (1967-1976), told an American reporter during that revolution, “Christianity has been relegated to the dustbin in history.” That would have been very plausible, considering that when the communist party took control of China in 1949, there were less than 3 million Roman Catholics and some 700,000 Protestants in all of China. Subsequent wave after wave of persecution came against all believers and there were many campaigns by these radicals to totally eliminate Christianity.
However a recent authoritative study released by the respected author and China expert, Paul Hattaway, estimates the total number of believers in Christ at 103 million. This includes Catholics and Protestant, house and official church believers, the vast majority being in the Protestant house church movement. The church could still be growing by up to 20-30,000 a day, and in my travels in China recently I have even found a major revival in many of the official Three-Self Churches.
There is one simple reason. Since the early part of the 20th century, when the Holy Spirit fell afresh on Azusa Street, (Los Angeles), South Africa, Ireland and many parts of China which has continued to this very day, Jesus, the Lord of the Harvest, has sent forth countless numbers of His servants and handmaidens to preach the Full Gospel with signs following. While divine healings and miracles are not common in most Western societies, they are the norm in China and many so-called ‘Third World Nations’. They confirm the Word, attract crowds, bring healing to multitudes, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit put boldness in the hearts of every disciple.

We have witnessed the most spectacular church growth, yet still our nation has 1.2 billion unreached souls.
