Care Chinese Ethnic Minorities

~ Capture the hearts of 100 million souls in China

From the beginning, the ethnic minorities are the neglected people groups found mainly China’s in remote interior. They are primarily farmers, left far behind in education and economy. In comparison to the major portion of the population of China, the Han Chinese, they are the ethnic minorities.  Among China’s ethnic minorities, the Miao, Yi and Lisu have the most Christians – making up about 30% to 60% of their population. In certain ethnic regions in Yunnan and Guizhou, the Christian population exceeds 80%. This is the result of gospel work carried out by missionaries who had come from afar more than a century ago.

The ethnic peoples are hard-working people with simple but fervent faith in their belief passed down from generation to generation. Many of them share a common desire to be messengers of the gospel. Due to their low level of education, many ethnic believers barely understand or could only understand basic scriptural truth. This has slowed the gospel work and slowed down the growth of ethnic churches. Therefore, RCMI continues to help the ethnic students who pursue education in senior high schools and universities. More and higher education will lift the minority peoples up from poverty and backwardness.

Education Aid Program

From 2010, we developed a plan to help ethnic youths who held great potential but poor financial background to complete their senior high school or university education. By our aid plan, we hope to slowly raise the educational level of ethnic people; to help ethnic groups come out of poverty and to equip leaders for the ethnic churches. 

Review of academic year 2010 to 2015

Since the setting up of an education aid fund, we are now financing many dozens of ethnic students in their studies, including those are studying in senior high schools and universities. By ethnicity, the aid recipients mainly belong to the Yi, Lisu, Pumi, Miao, Zhuang , Bai and the Mosuo people, etc. Among the courses of study their pursue are: information and technology management, logistics, architecture, international trade, linguistics, horticulture, education, engineering survey and geological survey.  A few of the aid recipients are children of third or fourth generation Christians whose parents are current church leaders. These students have expressed a desire to follow in their parents’ footsteps serving the church and spreading the gospel. Indeed, one has already pledged to serve full-time in 2013 and several have planned to study in Bible College after graduation. Glory to the Lord!

Planning for academic year 2015/16

A trust foundation in Hong Kong who does a lot of charity work in Hong Kong and China, has agreed to sponsor a matching amount with your donation for this academic year to this education aid program - meaning if you pay $1, they will pay $1 too.

This year we wish to sponsor a total of 50 students.  You can help us to support their tuition!

• Offering of HK$8,000 (est. US$1,100) can sponsor one university student's one year tuition

• Offering of HK$4,000 (est. US$550) can sponsor one high school student's one year tuition 

Any amount of your love offering is very much appreciated!  You can choose to sponsor an annual tuition in a single donation or a monthly donation.  We appreciate your support to the Chinese ethnic minorities’ students. Full or partial sponsorship will be allocated to students according to their financial status.
